a new discovery.

I just re-discovered my favorite smelling candle! I had stashed it away in a desk drawer while moving in with my husband.
I purchased this candle in Paris [yes, for WAY too much $] for the smell alone. wild violet is the scent and I wish you could smell it through the computer-it's that good!

Looks like I know what our house will be smelling like today! Click here to purchase your own.

sweet smell of peonies.

I love that Fall is right around the corner and we will soon be waking up to the scent of cool, crisp air. I did however, come across this soft, amazing scent of peony. I understand it's slightly outta season, but once you smell this line you will agree with me.

The whole collection of peony scented gifts are available on the k. hall website along with many other scents [some even more appropriate for Fall]

outdoor living.

I found these pictures over at Sacramento Street and thought it was an appropriate second post for today. The weather outside is exactly what an outside deck/patio is perfect for and these outdoor pictures are dreamy!  I can't wait to head home and sit outside while enjoying the heat.

dream spaces.

{kitchen edition}

I'm loving this rustic kitchen look. The mix of the wood chairs along with metal stools give this room great contrast. I love the multiple frames along the wall and the icebox, dead and center is a unique piece that ties everything together.

In this kitchen I'm loving the floor to ceiling windows and of course the library inspired ladder. Every kitchen shall have one, how fun!

I love the simplicity of this kitchen. When looking at this picture, the flowers located on the table make me think this kitchen just smells fresh and clean-like a crisp Spring day.

bathroom clean-up.

This past weekend I was motivated to get my bathroom organization tackled. There are tons of beauty products I never use and then there are some I don't use because I forgot I had them. Same goes for my jewelry...and certain pieces of jewelry can make or break an outfit, so getting that organized was the most important.

I started with purchasing a plastic desk/office organizer ($4 or so, found at Target) All the small broken up compartments allowed me to separate everything from chapstick to bobby pins, hair binders and make-up. I had also posted a while back about these Anthropologie bowls I purchased and was able to use them to keep my jewelry pieces I wear the most-seen and easy to grab.

I wanted to keep the things I used everyday close and up front...things I use every once and a while were put into a larger crate and stored in our guest bathroom. I purchased more clear, pullout drawer organizers and separated my jewelry. One drawer holding all gold, the second silver and the third was color/misc. I purchased a smaller version that I used only for earrings. I'm hoping this will help keep things neat and easy to find when I need them.

For necklaces, I placed a hook (more will be placed) on the inside of my bathroom drawer to hold my necklaces that are more delicate and worn on a regular basis.

spring fever.

source
I don't know about you guys, but I TOTALLY have Spring fever.
I can't wait until I can enjoy my iced coffee's without freezing, sitting on the deck with a cold beer , grilling and not running to the car, only to find it just as bone chilling cold as the outside. I feel like we're getting one step closer with day light savings time yesterday!
With that said- Spring is a time to de-clutter and Spring cleaning is in full force for me. I'm cleaning out my closet/bathroom/desk and getting rid of old junk/clothes I never use/wear along with purchasing new items that will replace the old. {favorite part}

I purchased these adorable ikat bowls yesterday at Anthropolgie so I can have some sort of organization system for loose change, or even use as a jewelry holder on my bedside table.

clutter free.

I would say I'm a very organized person, but there are certian things in my life that tend to get thrown in drawers/bins here and there. Jewelry I believe IS the worst! I don't even know what I have anymore. Here to help-some fun, creative ways to make your jewelry organized and clutter free.

Loved this idea! Putting your jewelry in different tea cup and saucer dishes. You can find old tea cup and saucers at your local thrift store for relatively cheap.

Vintage frames or old windows work great for displaying your jewelry. Take the frame /old window, and purchase some mesh screen at your local home store. Take a sturdy staple gun to the back to secure the screen into place and hang up all your earrings to be displayed perfectly.

Use an old egg crate to seperate out necklaces, earrings and bracelets. You can find the ones pictured above here!

Fun drawer knobs create a necklace masterpiece. Drill into a piece of wood or directly into your closet/bathroom wall to have your necklaces hang without becoming tangled in each other. Anthropologie has THE best dresser knobs to choose from.

cozy up by the fire.

With the weather this past week being so cold, it had me coming home and turning on the fireplace instantly. This gave me the idea to check out some fun fireplace designs and see how others are getting cozy this winter. Did you know there is even a possibility of having a fireplace in your kitchen and bathroom? Um...yes, please!

Choice favorite!

a do-it-yourself weekend project.

My boyfriend and I had so many pictures we wanted to showcase and both of us aren't really keen on having multiple frames on coffee tables. This picture wall was something we both thought of as being a great solution and turns out-some awesome wall decor.

How to:
  1. Choose how many picture you want to show, along with the design your going for.
  2. Print off pictures here or here.
  3. Head here to pick up frames.
  4. Grab some nails and a hammer.
  5. I suggest laying out your design plan first, and measuring exactly where those frames are going to hang on the wall. (make it perfect the FIRST time)
  6. Start hanging your frames in the order you have chose.
Have fun with this project and make it your own!

a natural Christmas.

This year while decorating the house, I tried to make it as "natural" as possible. I wanted to bring the outdoors inside.

                                                                  I love the stockings!

You can get so creative with vase fillers. I used old pine cones that I found at my parent's house, but you can purchase them here along with other vase fillers here & here.

Happy decorating!
