a bugs life.

I missed yesterday's cupcake Thursday, so I'm coming at ya with 2 "bug" infested cupcake recipes for the Summer.

Today's cupcakes: Butterfly cupcakes
These are the perfect cupcake design for my mother-in-laws birthday party that I'll be hosting Sunday.

 & bug cupcakes!
With cupcakes as cute at these, you can be ok with these bugs taking over your party! Get the bug cupcakes recipe here.

Enjoy!

trending now: feathers.

I recently purchased these shoes from Anthropologie partially because of the peacock feathers and partially because I just thought they were cute. Since then, I have noticed feathers everywhere!

Feather earrings, necklackes and even hair extentions. I wanted to share somewhere else I have been noticeing feathers popping up...fingernails.

doesn't this look cool?

I found a do-it-yourself feather nail tutorial that I will be trying over the weekend!

What do you think? If you wanna give it a shot-here are the steps:

What you’ll need :
A bag of feathers
A base coat
thick clear top coat
tweezers

  1. prep your nails with the base coat
  2. use your base color
  3. apply your fast drying top coat, then press the feather using a tweezers quickly before it drys.
  4. with a small, sharp scissors, cut the remaining edges of the feather hanging off your nail.
  5. apply a few top coats over your finished look
  6. repeat on the remaining nails
Enjoy!

I came across this do-it-yourself project in this month's Instyle Magazine- button earrings.

What you'll need:
  1. Buttons
  2. Earring backs [available at any arts & crafts store]
  3. Superglue
 How-to:
  1. Superglue the flat part of the earring back to the reverse side of the button and let dry for 2 min.
  2. repeat on second button to make a pair

end result shall look similar to...

Enjoy!

simply lovely.

I started this blog to be able to document things I truly love, simple things- fashion, recipes, cupcakes...the list could really go on & on.
In the blog world, this particular type of post is becoming pretty common, but it's great way to be reminded of the little things in life that make us all happy.

Here are some things that are currently making me smile:

These Iomoi pens, are just so fun! They come in a variety of designs.

Our wedding pictures being "pinned" on Pinterest!

These adorably packaged smore's & this baby smore's recipe given to me by my friend Jill.

This AMAZING Paul & Joe gold sparkle dress from net-a-porter.com

& a map of Italy- counting down the days till our honeymoon.

Hope you are all enjoying your Monday!

icey coffee punch

Ever have one of those mornings where coffee just isn't enough?
Well, I have your solution [for these warm months anyways]

I saw this being made on Paula Deen's cooking show earlier this week and knew I had to give it a shot. It was the exact pick-me-up I needed when I knew coffee just wasn't gonna do the trick.

corn and cupcakes

yep, that's right. no type-o here! I'm giving you the recipe for THE cutest Summer cupcakes[s] and the best corn-on-the-cob recipe.

First things first...the cupcakes. Today's cupcake is:

I've gotten so many awesome cupcake recipe books as wedding gifts [my friends know me SO well] but I haven't had the time to sit down and look through them. So until then, I will give you these. These corn on the cob cupcakes are the perfect add on to an outdoor, Summer BBQ.

& now for the actual corn on the cob recipe. I made this corn recipe* last night and got my inspiration from the Mexican corn we ordered off the menu at Rojo in St. Louis Park.

 * I chose not use sour cream or cilantro like the original recipe called for.

 Enjoy!

raw and real.

Last Tuesday night, Jon and I were eagerly awaiting [ok, maybe just me, but he was nice enough to come with] the Minnesota Zoo Concert Series where Sara Bareilles was performing.  I LOVE her & couldn't have been more excited for this concert.

Her voice was SO amazing, but this also made the concert bittersweet for me. It's tough loving a singer and having them be so great live, that once the concert's over-you wish you could only hear them live from then on out.
Don't worry-I still listen to her songs all the time.

Sara serenading us for her ending song...incredible!

Here's what the Star Tribune had to say about her concert!

If you ever get a chance to check her out, make sure you do- she puts on a great show.

meet new friends, but keep the old.

Jon and I attended a dentist picnic for all dentists of Dakota Valley along with their employees and families last Friday night. They had food, drinks, Culver's ice cream, a casino, video games, pony rides and a petting zoo for the kiddo's.
Well...let's just say that Jon and I had more fun in the petting zoo than half the children.

Our new friend, Norman...isn't he the cutest?

see, doesn't it look like we're having fun? I just had to share.

You can never be too old for fun!

room no. 3

I mentioned a few posts back about a new lingerie store that was opening off of 50th and France called Room No. 3. Well I was finally able to get out and visit this adorable store.

The walls are all whitewash and everything is just feminine, pure and crisp! There intimates are to-die-for sexy and very reasonably priced.

wedding recap.

WOW! Is pretty much all I can say. As many of your warned, your wedding day really does FLY by! I still can't get over it. And, on another note, I CANNOT get over how much fun I had (I hope you all that were there, had just as much fun as I did) I mean, I wanna do it again this weekend- any takers?

 Everything turned out beyond perfect!

I wanted to give our vendors a little shout out since all of their work is worthy of some praise!

Our flowers were done by La Tulipe Floral, by Becca Dauska
She was amazing to work with and envisioned everything I had drawn up in my mind perfectly. The flowers turned out beautiful!

Our photographer, Brandon Werth is wonderfully talented and I can't wait to see all the pictures that come back.

Our band, The Brian Kinney Band who did EXACTLY what I wanted and kept everyone dancing all night long-along with showing me my husband CAN dance. They were incredible and blew all my expectations away!

Nicollet Island Pavilion/Mintahoe Catering for providing such a beautiful setting (yes, thank you mother nature for a gorgeous day as well) Nicole was a delight and everything ran so smoothly!

Thank you to a special friend of the family (I'm leaving her name anonymous so she doesn't receive phone calls throughout all hours of the day)  for all her talent, knowledge and help with our gorgeous music throughout our church service- truly breathtaking!

The amazing talent at AVANT Salon, especially Ann Freund for doing my hair. It's wasn't hard to make my bridesmaids more beautiful than they already are, but to give them hairstyles they love is-mission accomplished!
"like" AVANT on FB here!

Amanda Kautt and Madeline Petersen at l'atelier couture for providing me the choice of having SUCH an AMAZING dress! You ladies were wonderful and I experienced the utmost customer service with you both.

*Ladies, if your ever looking for your wedding dress, PLEASE stop in here...the dresses DO NOT compare anywhere else in the cities-I promise!*
You can also follow their blog here to see what new buzz is hitting the wedding industry!

And last, but not least...thank you to ALL our wonderful family and friends who helped and were there to celebrate our day with us. It really would not have been as special without you all there.
*If I'm forgetting anyone, I'm very sorry & you all made our day as special as possible!

Thank you ALL so much!
Love, Katie and Jonathan Falkowski
